Season One Episode 4: The Gathering

Opening sequences like the one in Outlander are so beautifully crafted and have a way of just simply taking us through the stones into a magical land all over again! It is getting good! So we are supposed to think Claire is somehow escaping and these two guards are watching for her. It is rather funny because it looks like they are aiming at each other.  Looks like Claire is just out playing with the children, and leaving parts of her clothing behind to mark where she has been. Now that is rather clever, perhaps something she learned in military training, or nurse training I guess it would be. She goes back to the Castle following Rupert and Angus and we see the joy and simplicity of the MacKenzie clan preparing for their gathering celebration.  Every man for himself....... Aye. Just love these two, their like the naughty older brothers I never had.  Get the impression from Old Alec that Jamie should be left alone, but Claire does not seem...

Episode begins with the lovely song and reminder of what has come before. Thankfully I have been watching closely so I pretty much have those scenes memorized by now. Together the music and song bring us back into this enchanting far away world and into our characters lives. Truly masterfully.  Claire arrives in the extremely muddy courtyard of the castle. I take it the rain in Scotland is pretty much year round so this is to be expected. We get off the horses and meet a few of our people. Including Mistress Fitzgibbons who is the mother hen to the rest of the clansmen. Claire continues to be highly concerned about the wounded Jamie. She is first and foremost a nurse and tender caregiver.  Miss Fitz is a bit annoying at first as she just stares at Claire and makes her explain as much as she can that she does actually know what shes talking about. Not a huge fan of her character but at least she is a warm and caring person to the people of the Castle.  Claire and Jamie have ...
